Case study: Titanic Belfast
Stakeholder is responsible for all aspects of Titanic Belfast’s strategic and creative PR. As the largest man-made tourist attraction in Northern Ireland, and the largest Titanic visitor experience in the world, Titanic Belfast is a truly global project which has generated media interest from across the world. From Australia to Argentina and Belfast to Birmingham, the depth of information we have communicated to broadcast and press journalists has been vast.
We are responsible for writing and issuing all press releases, copy writing, marketing materials and writing feature editorials, as well as co-ordinating filming requests and upcoming media preview visits. Ahead of the official opening of Titanic Belfast on 31st March 2012, a key objective of our PR work has been to build awareness and create excitement about the attraction while not revealing too much of what is inside. We still want people to be surprised when they visit!
In order to create the appropriate level of media interest we organised a series of ‘First Look’ press visits with local news journalists, travel writers, business editors and opinion formers to reveal what will be inside the attraction when it opens and to realize the huge scale of the project.
Titanic Belfast has received a large amount of local and international TV, radio, print and online coverage to date, with highlights including the launch of online ticket sales, caterer and operator announcements, reveal of the Titanic Belfast Dress, visit by Oceanographer and Titanic discoverer, Dr. Robert Ballard, and the remake of Titanic’s Grand Staircase, to name a few.
