Debates relating to Policing & Justice matters are among the most contentious in the Assembly which is why it’s going to be touch and go as to whether or not the issue is devolved in the autumn.
During this week’s debate it was suggested that the Full-time Reserve was a “Dolly Parton, nine to five operation”. The sharp-witted Peter Weir (DUP, North Down) who is clearly Sammy Wilson’s comedy understudy, was having none of it. The only Dolly Parton thing about the police he argued was its “top heavy” management structure…
