AND FINALLY….

The danger of putting your head above the parapet is that, unless you’re suitably attired, you’re in danger of – in the vernacular – getting ‘cleaned’. Such was the response the SDLP’s budget proposals received this week from the Assembly’s wannabe stand-ups

Peter Weir (DUP, North Down) returned to form, stating that to compare the document to “voodoo economics…would be an insult to the witch doctors of the island of Haiti”.  John O’Dowd (Sinn Fein, Upper Bann) mocked SDLP calls for a new committee to deal with the recession: “a GAA club sets up a committee to fund raise for a sports day, but an Administration certainly does not..to tackle the world’s worst-ever economic crisis.”

Even Edwin Poots referred to the document as the ‘Beano’ and the MLAs on the SDLP benches as Dennis the Menace and the Bash Street Kids. Ouch, ouch and ouch.  Next thing you know they’ll be suggesting the authors get jobs as MPs’ book keepers.
