SlurryKat Ltd, Irwin’s Bakery and Portadown Locksmiths were the key winners at last night’s Craigavon Business Awards 2012. All three businesses picked up two Gold Awards each with SlurryKat also collecting two silver and Irwin’s one silver award.

The sold out event at the Mayer’s Hall in Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre was a resounding success with a record number of entries and winning businesses.

There were also successes on the night for Sainsbury’s Craigavon and Ballydougan Pottery picking up one Gold and one Silver award each. Performa Sports were awarded one Gold and two Silver while the Sir Allen McClay Young Business Person of the Year award went to Simon Dowey of John R Dowey & Son. Outstanding Contribution Awards went to Zion’s Den and Irwin’s Bakery while a special recognition award was presented to the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Alan Carson said, “We would like to congratulate all of the winners at the Craigavon Business Awards 2012. We were astounded at the quality of the entries and we were especially delighted with the number of entries in the new business category where Faith Jewellers were announced as winners. We also had fantastic category wins for Green Energy Technology, The Planters and Funky Monkey’s NI. All of the entrants and winners should be commended for their commitment to the local business community here in the Craigavon area.”

Adding her congratulations to the winners Chair of Development Committee, Councillor Carla Lockhart said, “We introduced the Craigavon Business Awards two years ago as a biannual event. We are absolutely delighted with how the local business community has responded both as sponsors and as entrants. This type of event would not be possible without our sponsors and I would again like to thank them for their support.”
